MacRitchie Tree Top Walk

November 27, 2014

Woke up at 9am to meet bennett today to go to Macritchie tree top walk. I swear i have never been so exhausted for a long, long, long time. I wanted to go to tree top walk since im all hyped for some adventure so i decided like a night ago. We alighted at marymount mrt and we couldnt find a bus to mac ritchie so we took a cab there. We started our adventure by walking around macritchie reservoir, literally. I will get to that later. So we walked along the pathway up and saw many people taking back their boat after their canoe training session. We saw this sign lim bo seng tomb and wanted to go see it so we made a detour. Wasnt anything much so we went back to our "path". After an hour only did we realize that we were walking in circles and back to the start point where there is an eatery. Argh. We were so annoyed because lacked signboards and maps that could actually lead us to where we wanted to go. Like there wasnt even any "you are here" maps at all. NONE.

So... we walked to the start of our adventure after walking rounds around the reservoir. Thats when our adventure started... Start of the trail!
4.4km. They are so lying.
Signboards

Awhile into the trail... monkeys were chasing after bennett. I swear it was so hilarious. Apparently we were walking on the path to tree top walk and there were two monkeys in our way. We thought that they wouldnt be any harm to us so we just approached them. We were so wrong because one of the monkeys started to run after bennett because he was holding onto his green tea. The monkey literally ran after him. He was so scared to death that he ran like metres away from that monkey. We managed to walk past the two monkeys and started walking.
The two monkeys... Video will be uploaded soon!

The path towards tree top walk was so secluded... like there was nobody there and we were surrounded by nothing but trees. Genius bennett had to tell me there was snakes in the forest like argh. Why did you have to do that! The road was so rocky and uneven and it was pretty difficult to walk even when i was in my sneakers. We took like 3 hours to walk to that damn tree top walk. The road there was just so tiring. and when we started the journey they told us it was only 5km, and it started counting down from there. We felt so annoyed when we walked so much but only to realize we walked 0.5km of it.
OMG WHY ARE THERE SNAKES?!
1.2KM more...
0.6KM more...
Monkeys when we were on the way there
0.4km
And after awhile they didnt even bother to show how long the distance was :(
Ranger station

I dont know if we were tired or the signboard was just lying to us because the last 0.4km was the most painful, and by 0.1km it surely didnt felt like it was only 0.1km because he had to climb this steep hill, and then we had to climb the stairs to the tree top walk.
When we finally got there, the view wasnt all that fantastic, and i can honestly say that i was rather disappointed because i expected more and it was nothing but just a damn bridge.
Im not lying when i say the view really isnt that fantastic. Its just trees... and more trees. The road back was just torturous because we had to climb endless steps down and endless steps up only to realize it only got us to the ranger station. We got lost and walked in circles and back to the ranger station again like goodness. We gave up and went to the side of the PUB and called a taxi and went to marina sq cause we were too weak to complete the journey.

So thats it! I wouldnt come here again... maybe i would but i would definitely not trek so deep into the forest because there was literally no way out but the exact way back... which will amount up to 10km or even more. My advice is that if you really want to visit the tree top walk please take a bus there. However, if you really love trekking and all you can always try walking the route too. I would definitely not try to do it again because im not a girl who likes to trek... or even climb stairs.

Definitely a once in a lifetime experience. Mac ritchie is always a place you can always visit for the scenery there because its just breathtaking. Its really nice to have a jog there too as well, especially early in the morning when the sun isnt too hot.

Thats it for now... Will update more on my post adventures tomorrow:)
